Veda Pathashalas

  • Pathashalas are schools where Vedas and Sanskrit are taught to children in traditional gurukula style. SDET currently runs two Veda Pathashalas, in Manjakkudi and Kodavasal. The acharyas or teachers at our pathashalas are well versed in their respective branches of Vedas.
  • Manjakkudi Vedapatasala has 21 students with 2 acharyas who teach Sukla and Krishna Yajurveda Vaikhanasa Agama.
  • Kodavasal Vedapatasala has 28 students with 4 acharyas who teach Rig, Yajur, Maithrayaneeya Saka and Vaikanasa Agamam.
  • Besides the Vedas, the students are also taught English, Math, Science, Social Studies, Computers, Tamil and Sanskrit. At the end of their program they are encouraged to appear for the Tamil Nadu 10th Standard SSLC Exam. The Trust also takes care of their food, shelter, clothing and healthcare.
  • The Vedantins follow the Gurukul tradition, staying with their Acharyas in two traditional tiled houses, which have been carefully restored to preserve the original architecture. Through these Pathashalas we ensure that the Indian Vedic heritage is passed onto the next generation.
